Halloween gift set

Good day,

My sister's birthday is Halloween and she is a big fan
 of decorating for the holiday
as well so every year I create some decor for her.

I found the tutorial for the glasses on pinterest and decided to give it a try.
You can find the link here

I started by spraying some Rust-oleum Frosted glass,
blocking off about an 1/2 inch with tape
at the top to keep it clear.  I ten painting the rest with black gesso.

To add a bit of weight and texture I used some Paperclay with an IOD mold,
when dry coved it with black gesso.

I purchaed a halloween skeleton and used the hands,
which i glued to the glasses with some strong glue ( E6000).
Then came the dry brushing with white paint.
For the finish touch I also used some Prime Metallique wax in old silver

The skeleton head is a glass bottle, which I did the same technique as the glasses
except for the Frosted glass.  I applied several coats of black gesso creating texture
with the paint brush .

For the hat, it has layers of tissue paper for texture,
I added some feathers, thread, ribbon
and a jewel spider

I am so loving Mix media and will have a lot more stuff coming up

Halloween decor

Good day everyone,

I have a Halloween decor to share with you,
my new venture in Mixed Media and I'm loving it.

Lots and lots of different elements on this project
Paper flowers, charms, beads, filigree hardware, chain etc...

I found this cute coffin box at the dollar store
It was available in 3 sizes, this is the largest 9 inches long
of course I purchased all 3 lol

I started with tissue paper and several branches die cuts to add texture
as well as swirls die cuts, and covered it all with black gesso

A plastic mini spoon from the dollar store, I added a cross charm
on the bottom, plastic skull in center of spoon added red rhinestones
Around the skull I added some decorative sand
and micro beads to some 3D matte gel.
I added some crackle paste to the wings

I used emerald green, blue and brown tones metallic paints
and finish with several different colors of waxes
(I really need to start marking colors down)

Now I still have 2 more sizes to play with
I have a plastic bin full of different items for Halloween
that I have picked up recently and from previous years
This is what I love so much about these projects, you get to
use it all up and color does not matter as everything gets a new finish

GDT for Frilly and Funkie

Good day everyone,

I'm very trilled and honored to be GDT for Frilly and Funkie for this challenge
you have until October 10th left to participate, the theme is Show us your stamps

For the pas months I have found a new love, Mixed media
This is the first time I add stamped images to my background
I used Heavy chipboard for the cover, applied white Gesso,
you can't see much but I actually added some stenciling and for the finish I
used Distress Oxide in 2 tones, Antique Linen, Frayed Burlap and Iced Spruce

This is where the fun starts, I used IOD molds with clay, flowers,
coagulated cardboard, beads, dies cuts, metal embellies
covered everything with white Gesso

For the final touch I used inks and waxes and played around until I reached
the finish I was looking for.  Since I'm new at this when I was done I had so many
different inks and waxes that I'm not sure of the final recipe
I did use Finnabair products and love how the waxes and inks are permanent
The camera does not do justice, because in real life there is a beautiful shimmer

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day

Rusty notebook

Hi everyone,

As I mention on my last post, I was working on another notebook
(I'm seriously hooked)  this is so much fun,

For the book texture I used tulle, tissue paper, cheese cloth, then I added all kinds of cardstock pieces cut twice using several dies.

For the rectangular and square pieces, it's only chipboard then I applied pearl drops to make it look like nailheads

I have all kinds of different elements, metal, clay, plastic, chipboard,
sand paper, beads, stones and glass glitter

This is a picture before I applied black gesso

Dies: Sizzix Pipeline, thinlits mix media 3 , coin & engrenage,
Spellbinder Gears, Memory box tools
Metallic waxes in gold, copper and blue
Because these are water based I applied an acrylic sealer

At look at the backside, done with tissue paper

I enrolled in Finnabair's new online class Book of Possibilies
Awesome class, I spent last Saturday at garage sales looking for all kinds of
cool items and old books.  With this being said a lot of projects to come

My first Mix Media notebook

Good day everyone

It's been a while since my last post
I took an online class with Finnabair, and before starting a canvas
I decided why not a notebook
This is all new to me, I made a few mistakes along the way on this first one,
but in all I'm pretty happy with the final results.

I started with lots of  different textures, lace, cheese cloth, jute
covered with black gesso

I purchased the notebook at the dollar store, and I removed the
elastic strip

Then I  used several dies which  I cut out on cardstock
several times and layered them to created dimension
Some dies used : Sizzix Swirls, Hardware findings, hearts

Then comes the layers of lots of embellishments
shells, paper flowers, bottle cap,  charms, beads
and all kinds of trinkets in my stash
Finally I covered everything with a coat of black Gesso

For the backing I used Tissue paper which I crumpled

Then the magic with spray inks and metallic lustres
Once everything was dry I sprayed it all with a
clear mat varnish

Now I am working on a second one to be posted soon
